Frequently Asked Questions[edit]

Q: But Soma, what do you know about Hawaii? Are you going to be able to do the setting justice instead of just turning it into a caricature?
A: I grew up on Maui, and lived in a handful of places on the island throughout my childhood to adolescent years. Maui (and presumably Hawaii as a whole) is very different between folks who live there and people who come to visit, who likely do not see the material conditions that people live under, which tends to paint it in the perspective of a "paradise." It is a very beautiful place with a dark history which still persists in many ways to this day. It's fair to be concerned about accuracy and sensitivity, but this is definitely one I've got covered in lived experience.

Q: Second edition Lost? But the kiths are separated from the Seemings--
A: This is a pretty common complaint about Changeling 2e. The way I reconcile this in my head is twofold. One, that there are often myths and legends of creatures who have incongruent or inconsistent descriptors: beautiful monsters, horrifying tempters and temptresses, animals with a strange degree of manual dexterity and artistry. Two, that to limit the Gentry to a static Seeming and Kith combination undermines the purpose of the Lords and Ladies of Arcadia. They are basically little gods in their own realms, able to make and create what they will out of the people they take. If that means a monkey-person made out of strangling fig vines (Beast seeming/Flowering kith), then so be it. They probably have a reason for it. Or, perhaps they don't have a reason and just a whim.
